Our final push is on! Help us reach our construction costs goal and double what we have raised to date!THANK YOU ALL FOR SUPPORTING THIS VISION!
After 8 years of evaluating potential opportunities, Red Lodge Youth Soccer is happy to announce further development of City park space, between Red Lodge High School and Coal Miner's Memorial Park, to include the construction of two new soccer fields, improved walking and bike paths, a bike skills course and frisbee golf.
This is a space that will be reclaimed and revitalized in tandem with a Montana Abandoned Mine Lands Program soil cap project in 2019.
Thanks to the Parks Board, the City of Red Lodge and the Montana DEQ for making this project possible!
We Need Your Support More Than Ever!
Red Lodge Youth Soccer, a nonprofit volunteer-run organization, is responsible for raising a budgeted $110,000 to cover the cost of soccer field design and construction including power and water supply, irrigation system and seeding, and initial maintenance. Red Lodge Youth Soccer is also responsible for the future operation and maintenance of the grass fields.
We need your help now in building this space within city limits for all to enjoy.
Proposed Field & Park Design
It's More Than Just Soccer Fields.
These fields will be open to the public and available for the community to enjoy. Additional activities planned for this desirable green space include trails for biking and walking, frisbee golf, sledding, and potential high school sports access.
Red Lodge Youth Soccer and the City have worked closely with the Montana DEQ to explore funding through the Abandoned Mine Lands Program (AML) to provide more than 70% of the cost to create recreational space at this location. The AML is providing all costs for an 18" base soil cap over the former landfill and coal repository. Without this financial "seed", this project would not be possible.
While raising funds for this project is the highest priority, there are other ways you can help! Please fill out this form. We look forward to hearing from you.
We'd love to keep you up-to-date on
this exciting project!
Red Lodge Youth Soccer:20+ Years In The Making
This program started more than 20 years ago when a small group of parents began organizing soccer activities for elementary aged youth, and their passion for this popular game grew here in Carbon County to create the Red Lodge Youth Soccer Club.
Each year, volunteer coaches and more than 200 youth (ages 4 to 19) sign up to play soccer with our Club, typically practicing on space that is designed for park picnics, football, private lawns, hay fields, and baseball.
Carbon County Schools do not have soccer programs, therefore small clubs like ours provide the only opportunity to play. Winning multiple State Championships, our small Club has proven it’s skill and commitment to one of the fastest growing sports in America.
With the construction of two designed playing fields on the reclaimed upper portion of Coal Miner’s Park, not only will safe soccer field space be created, but also a recreational park for improved walking paths, a bike skills course, frisbee golf and a large sports space for the whole community.
